Thekkady is one more beautiful place in "Gods own Country(Kerala)". Thekkady is all about "Periar Wildlife Sanctuary", situated on the banks of Periyar lake, at Thekkady. The sanctuary is spread across 777 square Km. You can enjoy the boating in periyar lake, by viewing the wildlife very closely. You can see herds of wild elephants playing with water of periyar lake. It is an eye feast, who can enjoy the nature.


How to Reach:

By Rail: Kottayam railway station is the nearest railway station, which is about 180kms away.

By Air: Kochin, nearest airport, 192 kms away.

By Road: Thekkady well connected by road from all the cities. 5kms from Kumily.

Periyar wild life sanctuary:
Situated on Periyar lake, spread across 777 square km.


Tribal Heritage Museum:
Display of fishing gear, hunting weaponry, bamboo furniture, various types of artifacts related to ancient agricultural practices, marriage ceremonies.

Mangala Devi Temple:

Situated at an altitude of 1337m, above the sea level, dedicated to goddess Mangala. 13kms from Kumily.

Munnar is one of the beautiful hill station in South India located in God's own country(Kerala).A perfect honeymoon spot.The greenery and cool air attracts the visitors through out the year.The complete hill looking to be covered with a green carpet as it is completely covered with tea plants.There are about 30 tea plantations in and around munnar.The mountain streams,valleys,tea plants are major attraction for the munnar.Munnar also had the highest peak in South India Anamudi 2695m from sea level.The temperatures will be in the range of 0-25 degree centigrade.The night temperatures will be very low.

By Road: Munnar is well connected with road.It is of 6 hrs away from Madhurai and Coimbatore.



Places to visit:

Mattupetty:

Mattupetty is situated at a height of 1700 m above sea level. Mattupetty Lake and Dam is a beautiful picnic spot with the panoramic view of the tea plantations and the lake. Boating facilities are available in the reservoir.

Rajamala:

The rare breed of Nilgiri tahr will found here.

Echo Point:


Echo Point has a natural echo phenomenon and offers panoramic views.



Eravikulam National Park:


A sanctuary for the mountain goat of South India, the Nilgiri Tahr,The Eravikulam National Park spread over 97 sq km in the Rajamalai hills.


Anamudi:


the highest peak (2695 m) south.
